Went to Mumbai by accident after ordering the wrong flight tickets. Before you know it, I was at Heathrow with only my loyal Nintendo DSI for company. 'Come on Squirtle' I said, as I boarded the flight with anticipation, thinking about what if Johan Elmander had a better goal to game ration in a Bolton shirt? The city was nice, crime wasn't an issue, but my DS dies on the way back. 4/10.

Beautiful city ,vibrant and bustling great bars ,clubs and fancy restaurants great mix of cultures from the Parsi people to the Islamic and jewish communities .great history a lot to do and see ..beautiful buildings I stayed in a plush suburb for a few months I felt much safer than in the U.K.i went for walks late at night and visitied places on my own never had any problem nothing like the media makes out ..I visited Mumbai ,shimla ,Delhi ,Ladakh /Kashmir and Sikkim all very different all mesmerising on their own ways met some incredibly kind loving hospitable people ..Sikkim was stunning !! Very different from Mumbai but that's who I love India it has many doors to so many different worlds you feel like you are visiting a different country at every state ..the people look so diverse too ..all shades ,all features ,all different characterstics ..very beautiful people ,especially in the hilly regions where so many could be models !!..I was in awe of the flora ,wildlife and human diversity many different religions ,cultures ,ethnicities and languages ..Mumbai is a great hot spot to have a look at Indias huge vast melting pot can be overwhelming as it is a very busy place but it is an extremely exciting city to be part of offers a lot and contrary to the biased media I felt safer in Mumbai than London where I can't even walk the streets at night in fear of uk youth gangs Indis it's beautiful ,rich and a magical place ..I also visited Punjab and too the person who said 'Indian' men are weedy haha please visit Punjab and himachal where the men are HUGE and much more bulky and built than the average man in general ..I saw Sikhs that were nearer 7ft!! And it was no exception go check out the Sikhs in Amritsar who have ancestral history of farming and warrior history ..rural Indians are extremely well built ..the jat and Pathan are more built and regal looking in stature than the average mousey Brit

Help! My girlfriend got kidnapped in Mumbai! this is the worst vacation ever!
#Anonymous on Jul 23, 2016 :
I've travelled across practically the whole of India and 9 countries abroad.

Honestly, you can't beat Mumbai. It's the safest and best place on earth.

Been living here for almost 3 decades.

Thank God I'm in Mumbai!

The men aren't scary and all average around 5ft with no muscle so don't worry. Many men act like monkeys during mating season around women so you get the impression that many inhabitants of India may not be evolved completely. If a group tries it on your girlfriend just punch one square on the nose and they all scatter. Don't worry too much about the police they are all overweight and useless and do not take police work seriously just throw a rupee at them and they will leave.

personally never been there but it looks super cool and i guess it is both safe and unsafe in different locations

Honestly, do you really think Mumbai is unsafe. I have lived in Mumbai for the past 33 years and have not found any place that has the potential to scare anyone. Remember, Mumbai is bursting at its brim due to the population. You will see a lot of people (by the hundreds if not thousands) on the street 24hrs (yes, even at 2 am or 3 am), so you are never alone.

However, necessary precautions need to the in place like any other big city. Do not travel to lonely places at night. South Mumbai, Central Mumbai and part of North Mumbai are NOT lonely places, you always have people around in large numbers, Women, Men and Children. Also, the police patrol the streets day and night (in higher numbers at night).

I have had many friends visit from overseas and we have had amazing adventures across the length and breath of Mumbai. There was not a single incident except a few people staring wide eyes (Stare back at them with a serious look and they run for cover).

Mumbai is a boiling pot of many religions, caste, race, ethnicity etc etc.... There are bound to be some issues.

There is only once advice that I can give you to really enjoy this city. Be Smart / street smart. (If you have a local friend you don't need to worry, if you don't, Chill, don't worry at all, there are plenty of nice people who will help you)
