I'm looking to move to phuket and looking to earn 40 000 baht. Is that a livrable wage for a single person ?

I agree with Michiel below. I live and work here 16 years and can tell you that for $500 USD long term rent you get a very nice 3 bedroom house even with a pool. Also, re pollution, rated as moderate. you have to be kidding. It's an island in the middle of nowhere with no industry or even a power plant. It is wind blown from every direction. Of course if you stand on the main street full of Chinese tour buses it will not be so good but just move 100 meters and it is the cleanest air possible. Re safety, also very safe. Never had a break-in or anything stolen. Feel safe everywhere even at night. Don't pick a drunken fight with the ladyboys in Patong and you will be fine. The drunken tourists are also the biggest menace. Re the cost of living, there are many great Thai food restaurants and even wester food available for very cheap. 50 thb will get you a lot or 120 thb for western food. So in conclusion, for westerners ,purchasing power: great, safety: great, pollution: great, property price rental: great, purchase: moderate, traffic is great during covid but normally slow during rush hour only. Electricity cheap and very reliable, fast and reliable internet, great fishing, sailing, shopping and some of the best beaches in the world. So in conclusion, quality of life very high.

I've lived here long enough to guarantee you that most people filling in data for phuket are tourists, as they all pay double price ... phuket is much cheaper for people who know where to buy stuff, instead of going to the fancy over[priced tourist place, especially rent; the real rent is at least 50 to 70% lower as what all the tourists have been filling in here
