Perceived pollution levels are far higher than you might expect for a coastal city, but result from completely uncontrolled traffic and widespread use of diesel generators during frequent power cuts.
Traffic pollution is by far the worst and results from massive increases in the number of vehicles and zero enforcement of pollution regulations on cars and lorries.
