Primary issue with local hospitals is the doctors themselves. Out of network doctors should not be working in network hospitals. If the doctor chooses not to take the same insurances as the emergancy room they should start a private practice. Having helpless peoe funneled to them by rhe ER then refusing to accept insurance should be criminal. It is in some states and Washington needs to make balance billing ER patients by doctors who think they need to get $700 and hour instead of the $150 an hour the insurance will pay illegal. It isn't like you can shop around when you need the ER. Once you have been told rhe hoslital is in network, all providers giving service there need to be part of that.
