I’ve lived in Vallejo since 1998 and I love it here. Perfect weather, a great brew pub called The Tap Room right by the water and ferry access to SF.

There’s a lot to like about Vallejo and it’s full of interesting and smart people. Vallejo is one of the most diverse cities in the US. There are not so nice areas but honestly, I’ve yet to encounter a no go area. I feel safe walking around.

In 20 years I had my car window broken into recently for the first time. That’s been my personal experience with crime here.

I wish the downtown was nicer but they do a good job during the Holidays and there’s a great Farmer’s Market on Saturdays.

Things to do in Vallejo:

1) Tap Room
2) Sit out in the sun on he water at Vic’s
3) Eat at the Front Room
4) Get BBQ at Gracie’s
5) Run or bike on the waterfront up to the Vallejo Yacht Club and River Park
6) Tour around historic Mare Island
7) Go to Six Flags amusement park
8) Go to the gym at In Shape on Magazine St
9) Goal bowling on Magazine Street
10) Watch one of the many beautiful sunsets

Vallejo ...About the best you can say is, It is NOT Oakland, but trying hard to be Oakland. There are gangs in Vallejo, the city declared bankruptcy and it hasn't recovered from that problem. Many people that are being pushed out of Oakland/San Francisco due to high rents are going to Vallejo, Antioch and Bretwood area so crime is rising. The schools are not the best, not much in the area. Not many really good jobs in Vallejo and close to oil refineries.
