Hayward is close to everything, but crime is big problem. There are a number of gangs in all areas of Hayward. The police lost it's certification but recently got it back. That caused many police officers to leave and Hayward is having a hard time. The schools are not that good, most areas of Hayward are old and look old, but it is trying to come back. The high price of rent in San Francisco($4,000 and up for 1 bedroom) is causing people to move into areas, like Hayward. There are jobs in Hayward but it's really not the place to "visit" or that I would pick to rise a family. If you are a single male and can handle yourself in a street fight, then you should be OK. Walking around at night is not the best idea. Car break in and home break in, along with all the problems that drugs and gangs bring are in Hayward,Ca.
