While it is true Iran has a bad media image for unfair reasons, unfortunately this page is actually the reality in Tehran now. I have been living in Tehran for the past 3 years and crime has been steadily on the increase. We live in a good neighborhood, but tonight we came home after shopping and the lock on our building's front door had been completely broken off. A few months ago one of our neighbors in the building had their apartment broken into and things stolen, and then a second break-in happened and people's bikes were stolen. At work people are also discussing the number of break-ins that are happening these days. I have seen women physically attack each other on the subway to the point where they bashed each other's heads against the door of a moving train, scratched each other's faces until they were bleeding, and then once the train had stopped they simply moved the fight off of the train and into the station. Another time I saw two women kicking each other in the face while sitting at opposite ends of the subway benches on the train. People have also been stabbed on the metro in the past few months - which has been written about in the Persian newspapers. If you are a woman, be prepared for guys even following you on motorbikes and even spanking you. I haven't even mentioned the amount of inappropriate comments you will receive...

This page is absolutely false. How could they call Tehran unsafe? It's one of the safest places on the planet. I have been all around the country and besides being helped or respected, haven't seen anything else. No crime what so ever. The results displayed on this page are misleading and false. I guarantee it.

This result is pure lie. I can't imagine a safer place other than some rich northern European cities.

I'm a 43 years old Iranian woman who lived all her life in Tehran. unfortunately I should confess that Tehran is not a safe city for it's people. As you see in the results, the citizens treat foreigners totally differently.

I thought Tehran was safe too until I was pick pocketed in broad daylight and its sad to say that children are being used to carry this out

Tehran is much safer than the majority US cities, but the owner of media think it is not a good news for them for their political credit scoring

Iran Is Portrayed in the media as a threat but to be honest The people are very friendly and compared to Europe as capital punishment is in Iran (the region) there is less crime because of the fear. Yet 99% are very kind people

I live in Tehran and travels many to other countries. Iranian are friendly , Tehran is safe places and as general people like the foreigners .Surely , you should take care of your pocket as other places in the world ( is not so in small cities) such as Rome , Chicago etc .North part of Tehran is clean and greenish , noise level is high , bad traffic ,mostly polluted weather ,main streets are mostly crowded (people & cars , except 23 to 5 AM),nice mountain in the north of Tehran(about 5 months snowiest)

I've been to Sao Paulo and Rio, they look safe comparing to Tehran, very unsafe city.
#abrar on Sep 19, 2014 :
Tehran is very good and busy city.People are very friendly and helpful.
#A Tourist on Sep 05, 2014 :
The whole city is very safe, but of course you should be aware of pick pockets.
You probably will not be witness for any criminality, or any fighting. The people are very busy, the city is very big, and traffic jam specially in the center part towards south does not allow people to get involved with any long argument or quarrel. You may see some shouting, but those are nothing.
At the center part of Tehran (Ferdousi street) you can exchange your money to local currency at the best rates. Try only money changers in the shops. Shop money changers do not speak English very well, but be sure they are very helpful, and they do not cheat.

I lived for six year in Tehran. Never observed any crime. But city is very crowded and drivers are not very calm in hot days. People are really friendly and helpful to foreigners.
