Y'all in the comments are ridiculous. The unhoused people on the streets using drugs are not a danger to you. Most of the crime in the city is related to gang violence. I've lived in Surrey my whole life and travelled extensively, and in comparison to elsewhere, Surrey is just fine.

I’ve been to 20 cities in Ontario, Quebec and B.C.
Surrey is by far the worst I’ve ever seen in my life.
Everything is dead and you can see locals they’ve already gave up fighting.

I have lived in Surrey for 13 years and havecworked in Vancouver for 10 years, I vehemently disagreewith this stats. Whalley has one block of addicts compared to Vancouvers 4x4 block concentration radius. Surrey don't have random stranger attacks that's prevalent in Vanvouver day or night. The volume of break & entry especially to business are minuscule compared to downtown Vancouver alone. Finally, Surrey don't have a media ban on serious crimes in the city, so citizens of the other municipality hears about their serious crimes when it cannot be ignored any more or when it ends in fatality.

I live in whalley, it's entertaining. But someone was murdered across the street. He got away from the cops by hiding behind a tree, then proceeded to lure a meth addict into the bushes. Yeah, he died. Then a creepy doll was hung in the tree months later. Not too bad, seen worse.
