Freiburg is a safe place, when you stay away from stuelinger weingarten or neustadt

Funny that Freiburg is considered a safe city, when it has the highest crime rate in Baden-Württemberg. Freiburg is in the news papers quite frequently because someone's been beaten to death or because women have been sexually harassed. I'd recommend to stay away from parks and backstreets at night and to not walk alone after sunset because police presence is alomst non-existent at and around the deserted and really dangerous spots.

My elderly cousin was attacked by his front door. This was near midnight. He was injected with something and all his clothes stolen plus keys, bank cards and cash. He was left for dead. He was unconscious having also sustained head injuries. That happened in May in Mozartstrasse. After much hospital treatment he has now had a stroke and cannot speak or move. The police were informed at the time but did not take it seriously. I am English and angry about the fact that the police did not try to find the people responsible. It is now October. No one was interviewed. A builder gave my cousin a mobile phone to contact a friend to come and help him .A police presence is needed in Freiburg both day and night especially in the Statgarden.
