Hi! I have been selected as the best candidate for a PR Manager position in Warsaw! Employer mentioned that includes a relocation package and everything. If I get an offer, what would you say could be a good salary to accept.
#Luke W-wa on Nov 17, 2019 :
Hi, EUR 3000 should be enough for you to live in Warsaw for two without worrying about prices (food in mid-range restaurants, clothes, trips to the theatre, cinemas, concerts, gym activities). I would say that you will be able to save some more money.
#Evelyn on Nov 15, 2019 :
Hi everyone,
I've been offered a job in Warsaw for 3000 EUR as basic salary (before taxes).
The idea is to move in with my husband but I will be the only one working.
Would that be enough for a lavish life? We are used to living alone in a house and we like to go out a couple of times a month.
#folo on Oct 04, 2019 :
#Jude the dude
Depends if it's gross or net salary. Both should be sufficient to rent a small flat and do not care about the basics like (eating outside, going to cinema, buying not too expensive clothes).
Naturally, with 8000 net salary you would save more, which in my opinion is a "must have" position in the monthly budget planning.
#Jude the dude on Sep 09, 2019 :
Is 8000 PLN enough for a lavish life in Poland? I want to live alone and don't want to cook everyday.

About rasist, whole Europe are exist but not everyone. Higher educated people or businessmen don't have racist problem.
I used to live in Poland for 3 years. Czech for one year. I think polish people are much more global minded than Czech. If you insist polish is racist, then Czech will kick you out. They are same race, totally different behavior. Maybe Poland is a bigger country, so people are more understandable.
#Hasan on Jun 17, 2019 :
Poland is the best country in East Europe with strongest economy although the middle class lines are not that wealthy as West part.
#Dominik on May 31, 2019 :
Something got really wrong today with the data - it's not relevant anymore. Have no idea who and for what reason changed so many things but its' just not true. Yesterday average salary was 4140 zł now it's 3654 zł. Tho mortgage rate is wrong. It's not 5%, it was around 3.5% before which is actually pretty reliable.
And a 3-room apartment outside centre does not cost >4k zł.

Numbeo should look into that.
#Maciej on May 30, 2019 :
@Ron, Warsaw is quite safe for world standards, especially from someone born and raised in India. Polish people will complain, as other parts are safer, but generally it's a good place to live in. 9000zł is a great salary for a single person, you'll be able to rent a big place for yourself, enjoy leisure and still have quite a lot of savings. I strongly recommend, especially if someone in your family can work as well, then the living costs per person drop and you can save more money for the future or unfortunate events.

Pawel’s wrong , actually girls here are very open towards middle-easterners and people from the Indian subcontinent
#Kasia on Feb 19, 2019 :
Alexandra - it's not enough to rent an 1br apartment and buy food, but at the end of the month nothing is left

ps studio apartment in Warsaw is 1800-2300.
#ir on Jan 01, 2019 :
Hi Alexandra, 5040zl gross is about 3500 net salary, so it is not too much for two persons.
Renting a studio flat cost 1200-1500 zl/month.
#Alexandra on Dec 13, 2018 :
Hi there! I was offered a job in Warsaw for 5040zl gross. Does that sound enough for a family of two, one child one adult? Thank you very much for your responses in advance.

Pawel is talking absolute rubbish! Lookup reviews e.g on youtube
#Anonymous on Oct 07, 2018 :
@Pawel I see this in news. But is this agression is against every foreigner or against non-white people? Or against refugees?... And how Polish citizens think about Russians? Thank you.
#Pawel on Oct 07, 2018 :
Please note that violence against foreigners has increased over the last six months, especially in Warsaw but also in other major cities. It's mostly non-Europeans being targeted. There's a nasty anti-migrant atmosphere in Poland at the moment so be warned.
#Anonymous on Sep 06, 2018 :
@Sasza : Are you really sure about recommending American Clinic Warsaw? I googled it just now and what I found are terrible reviews - they all have a rating of 1 star out of 5.

I have lived in Sydney for 30 years, renting is skyrocketing - bedsitter from $300-$5oop/w, food same: takeaway, mostly shitty food for $10 and more depends what, low wage is not enough for living cost,
people using charity-tent city in Martin Place, 100 000homeless on streets, beaches.
Australia accommodation is giving to refugees from assia and afrika. Sydney already looks like
Peking, yellow, yellow everywhere.

Hi #Maheshpothani

In Poland in 2018 minimal wage is 2100month/gross (13,7 pln/h gross) that means 1530 PLN net/month (in PLN).
They can't hire you legally for less.

Minimal wage:

@Eleni, I'd say the market is big enough for you to find an appartment nevertheless but having a dog is definitely a blocker for some renters.
#Eleni on Jun 22, 2017 :
Hello! I am gonna live in Warsaw for three years. Everybody tells me that it's difficult to have my dog with me and I won't find somewhere to rent because dogs are unwanted. Is it true? I don't want to left my dog back.

Warsaw's climate is humid continental (Köppen: Dfb) with cold, snowy, cloudy winters and warm, sunny, stormy summers. The average temperature ranges between −1.8 °C (29 °F) in January and 19.2 °C (66.6 °F) in July. The mean year temperature is 8.5 °C (47.3 °F)
#Krzechu on May 26, 2017 :

Far-right football hooligans are more active in cities like Krakow and Wroclaw recently.
Warsaw is a very safe city and Poland on a whole is a safe country, way more than a few western country where crime is stronger.

You've nothing to fear about being beaten or experiencing overt racism in Poland.
Instead, if you're not an Erasmus student you could experience isolation: generalizing poles are not very outgoing like Spaniards or Portuguese, they tend to stay with their circle of friends and they don't try to socialize on every opportunity.
Warsaw in particular, despite being a big city has a very rural background being a destination for villagers, and the mentality is still there.
Must be said anyway that there's quite a big difference between polish boys and girls, since the girls are generally very open and curious about diverse people.
#Starling on Mar 30, 2017 :
I absolutely love Poland. I have been to Warsaw many times, and I have never met anything but warm and friendly people. The only police activity I have ever seen was someone who was illegally parked on a main street. The police had to call for a tow. It was an event! Skinheads in the street??? LOL! Not happening! The worst you are likely to encounter are kids on skateboards, and possibly some older people Nordic walking and taking up space on the sidewalk.

If I were You there, I'd more feared of bald/short haircut guys in tracksuits or blue jeans and hoddie than skinheads. Your chances to meet skinheads here ain't much bigger to meet inuits.
Enter to search engine a word "dresiarz" - then you'll know what they look like.
#Sasza on Mar 04, 2017 :
In my opinion living in Poland, or even opening the business there it is a great idea for foreginers. The country is in fact growing at a rapid pace, and what is more, it allows foreigners to invest. Nevertheless, if you decide to conduct business there, you might want to see where you can get medical help. Certainly a great place for that is  the Amercian Clinic in Warsaw. It is part of Medicover Hospital. There you can even use such option as the Second Opinion, in which you will be diagnosed by another doctor and he will propose an alternative method of treatment.
#Maciek on Mar 03, 2017 :
I like this website, it's very useful. I try to create useful content on my blog for foreign residents in Poland as well, so if you have any questions on different topics, feel free to contact me on .

@Beware : In response to your following post,

"To non-whites in Poland:

Beware of local uneducated guys that wear always tracksuits or camo combat trousers, have short haircuts, wear happy bags across the chest and baseball caps with the visor pointing the sky"

Are they skinheads or chavs in Poland? How would they react to an east asian guy? Can you show me some pictures of them so that I can get a feel for what they look like?
#85cube on Dec 30, 2016 :
In all eastern europe we don't like muslims, but it's ok if you're pretty much secular and respect the local culture and traditions. You have a good chance not to run into any problem in the biggest cities, which are more multicultural and focused more on economics and less on traditions. Anyway I'd suggest some other countries if you have the option. Just being 100% honest with you.

Buying apartment average 2,000 Euro ?? is it true?

and Can a foreign (not polish) student to buy an apartment through his stay?
#Marek on Sep 02, 2016 :
In my opinion apartment rental prices shown in your charts are underestimated.
It may be caused by:
1) domestic definition of 1 bedroom apartment - in Poland it is an apartment with one room dedicated to all living purposes including sleeping, kitchening and dining, and separate bathroom. Its size ranges from 15 to 25 square meters.
Your definition of 1 bedroom apartment is equal to our 2 bedrooms.
2) lack of attention / language skills of respondents

#Bernard on Apr 22, 2016 :
Well. I think apartment can be found for lower than the price you gave away. I was renting a 28m2 studio - Very Decent condition next to the metro station (metro is only in warsaw) 12 minutes away from city center for the price of 1300 Zloty per month bills included.

Apartments can be found easily. Though living in the city center is much more expensive due to the lack of the availibility of big supermarkets where the cost of F&B is much higher than in the supermarkets in suburbs. by that I mean, even though there is a "biedronka" on every corner but the choice is much smaller since they do not have that spacious shops in the city center like the suburbs / farrest places (ie: Bialoleka; Wlochy itp...)

The prices are not so realistic mentionned upstairs.

3500 per month is a fair salary low though I wouldnt personally accept this salary since living in the city center as mentioned in my comment above is much different then living in the boarders of the city.

#Rafal on Mar 29, 2016 :
Please tell me dear contributors, in what mid range restaurant can I pay as little as 100 PLN for a decent three-course meal. I really want to know that, I will bring my wife there and spare som money. 150 PLN is a minimum if you're not about to visit fast food places or crappy chain restaurants (i.e. Zapiecek, Sphinx) which can in no way be considered as "mid range". The same applies to family run dive pizzerias on the outskirts of Warsaw.
#ab on Mar 25, 2016 :
The prices indicated are much lower than in reality, in particular when it comes to flat rents. It would REALLY be a challenge to find a 1 bedroom flat in a decent condition (even far from the centre!) for less than 2100-2300 PLN. And this would the price for locals, the foreigners will be charged more.
#Farhad on Mar 13, 2016 :
As an International student (also, I am not European) I want to start PhD in Warsaw University Technology in October 2016. I have some questions:
1) How much is the cost of living for one person monthly? (Except renting apartment)
2) Renting an apartment is cheaper or registering for a dormitory? and which one is recommended?
3) Is it legally possible to work while you are a PhD student? and if is it possible how many hours in a week?
4) What is monthly pass? Does it mean with paying about 26 EUR for each month I can use bus and train for going all over the city? Or, it has some limitation.
