Regardless of the had air condition in Shenzhen especially in center of the city area or CBD as other people have already mentioned feel the the same the streets in Shenzhen are very filthy. Also they have a culture to barbeque the lamb meats on street make the heavy smokes once I saw a live sheep (but its fur turns black with all dirts) sat beside the cart vendor. Rubbish everywhere people who live there don't seem care about the cleanness of the city. Also there some lakes turned clean seem drinkable before was stinky.

Have not visited Shenzhen. I lived in JINAN, Shandong Prov. for 7 months. Some days it was like a "foggy dayin London town". One could not see a tall building past a quarter mile (4 city blocks).

The worst was noise pollution. From the crack of dawn until sundown there was a constant cacaphony of horns blasting away. Shortly before I left, the noise got to me on a 'mental' level. I had to leave for my mental health. Now, that's me. It will get to another in more or less time.

How is traffic? Darwinian, as in 'the law of the jungle'. It took me two weeks to figure it out. Biggest vehicles have first priority (Buses, Dump-trucks) followed by cars and motorized carts. The most dangerous place was the sidewalk. Motorized bikes come at you silently from behind (motor off). If one does not want to get hit, hug the window-glass and use boxes and food stands to block the rear. Pedestrians were 'fair game'. Old ladies had to judge distance and speed of on-coming vehicles carefully, then run for their lives. Drivers will not slow down, much less stop. Absolutely barbaric. I had no preconception of Chinese people before I went to China. I had never met any. Today I just shake my head. There is so much to dislike where does one begin when talking about the 'Mainlanders'. Sixty-six years of Communism has left the Chinese people with no moral compass. Money is the only measure of life they care about. Greed. Lie, cheat or steal is all the same to them. If they get away with it, they think themselves smart. If you catch them in the act, they laugh and say "You are so smart." That's been my unbiased observations of the Chinese people. Of course generalizing like this does not apply to all individuals. For sure if one talks this way in public one will be called a 'racism'. It is not. It is about knowing the difference between right and wrong.

SHenzhen is a really filthy place with absolutely no hygiene whatsoever.
People spit on the ground, almost every 5 second you hear someone coughing and spitting, even some people blow snot out there nose on the pavement.
Streets are a little cleaner than hong kong litter wise in some areas but there are lots of cigarette butts around still.
People smoke indoors in the malls and even some do in mcdonalds, and there's indoor ashtrays everywhere aswell!!, and whats also worse is they spit on the floors inside aswell, in restaurants even and there's kids crawling around on the floor!!!
Another thing you won't believe is what goes in the garbage bins outside, parents pull there kids pants nown and hold them over a bin and they pee and poop in it, and thats a bin virtually right next to a food outlet.
Hygiene does not exist whatsoever in this city, if you go there make sure you bathe in hand sanitizer every 5 minutes literally and always wear good fully closed in and covered shoes to avoid stepping in human filth and waste.

Please pay attention to noise pollution day and night from all kinds of sources. Businesses blasting speakers to sell clothing, washers, phones...etc for example. Honking even though it is not allowed. All kinds of construction projects working illegal hours like the one next to me now.
