I’ve been to la, it’s really the west and south central part to avoid. The highest things I seen was a man smoking and vaping. And even then, you should have caution no matter what city you go to, even if it’s safe, there is no crime free city. You should always travel in a group and be aware of your surroundings. Also, it’s not about how much crime there is, it’s where the crime takes place, so you know what places to avoid and be safe.

Crime, poverty, homelessness, drug use escalating. Home robberies, shootings, and drive by muggings increasing. Homelessness is a huge problem. Parts of Hollywood and Santa Monica look like Skid Row. You have to walk around tents, sleeping bags, and used needles on the sidewalks of Hollywood. Couple years ago a woman was assaulted by a homeless man in broad daylight on a busy intersection in Hollywood. She was getting in her car and he threw a bucket of his own diarhhea on her.

Its not just LA that has been experiencing these problems.
The entirety of California is just like LA now.

I don't like this city. It is way too dangerous, i was carrying an umbrella. The umbrella flipped inside out, while i was distracted trying to fix it i was mugged by a homeless dude on drugs, he had hedge clippers. He stole my gucci flipflops and i had to walk all the way back to my hotel BAREFOOT. I was scammed by this hotel, they didn't have breakfast in bed, and that is the true crime here.

im honestly surprised at how low this crime score is. There are tons of homeless people on drugs here.

Just as bad as London in my opinion, both cities are terrible.

If this is “moderately safe”, what is “dangerous”?
This is a war zone - if you are riding buses or trains, or even just walk down the street, there is a whole bunch of aggressive weirdos looking for fight. Many of them are on drugs or having mental problems. Pepper spray is a must.
