@RobH

If you watch the local news, you will see the asian nbhoods are suffering from homeless and addicts too now.

Let's hope Irvine is not turning into a new Portland, Atlanta, Seattle.

Agree... Irvine used to be safe, but that's quite a couple of years ago.

Many homeless and poor people who fled from L.A. and San Francisco now hanging around in Irvine.

I agree with what the other commenter, RobH, said. Virtually all of Irvine is super safe, except for the areas immediately surrounding the last multi-unit apartment complexes. Our family has been living here for over 8 years and never had even the tiniest bit of trouble.

I wouldn' say Irvine is very safe. Many poor people around, so burglaries are a big issue.
RobH on Feb 04, 2022:
Irvine is mostly made up of Asian population, more than 60% Asian. The homes are expensive 1 to 2 million dollars for a 3 bedroom home. The 'only' unsafe areas in Irvine are the Irvine Company Apartments since the Irvine company has decided to allow a percentage of HUD ( low income government subsidized rentals) and this allows low income families to live in Irvine which increases the crime in Irvine.

Most of the small cities south of Irvine are lower crime. Just 10 miles north of Irvine in Santa Ana, etc; there is a much higher crime rate and you do not want to walk around late at night.

safe city but crimes has been slowly rising up since April 2021
