A single person living in the Philippines can easily live on about $700usd to $750usd, if you are frugal. If you have expensive tastes, you will need a lot more. Some Filipino families live on far less...
#dennis on Oct 31, 2013 :
You need more money then that. $2000 a mo would be ok

I agree with Jude Garbiel. It is best to get more information before taking the jump. good sources are wikipedia. I also saw this news website dealing specifically about Olongapo...www.subicupdater.com

Right now, it is the best source of information aside from facebook. cheers!

the Philippines is a wise choice, but one should be very aware about the local customs and norms, as it will help you assimilate more easily with the people and save you from unnecessary spending and costly mistakes.

Do remember that in the Philippines, family tend to be very closely knit, so if you find yourself enamored with a local lady, do keep in mind that casual flings are okay, but to live with a filipina is to live with the whole family, which might seem annoying for you but is standard procedure in the island.
