Country is facing an imminent population collapse and in a few years won't be able to sustain their retirement age citizens. Almost none of them take personal accountability for their innate lack of interpersonal skills and would rather gloat about it being the government's problem that they aren't having babies, instead of acknowledging that most of them cant even make eye contact without having a nervous breakdown. If you can't pass the checkpoint of many when it comes to forming and maintaining a relationship how on earth do you think financial incentives are going to help. The third world is pumping out kids like a nike factory and you're all sitting at home swiping line and watching cartoons of cats

Japan, no doubt, is one of the best cities in the world to live in. But you must know and speak Japanese.

The data can be trusted according to the eyes of local Japanese people.

Having the time of my life in Japan. Been here for a couple of months now and everyone is really friendly and hospitable. Such a difference with the US or Australia, where i also lived longterm. It's safe, efficient and amazingly affordable here.

I remember half a year ago, Tokyo ranked around 100 on this site, but now 11?? Is my memory so wrong?

Not cheap, but better healthcare, much safer and better infrastructure than U.S. and more fun than Australia, South Korea, New Zealand etc. Almost on par with Western Europe, although more polluted and much bigger chance of earthquakes. The japanese are smart, polite and funny, i am having a good time here, not missing California at all.

Cost of living can be high but you can live for cheap without too much struggle.
Not too difficult to create of international group of friends if you have difficulty to integrate.
Extremely safe compare to other big cities and extremely convenient.
Makes it very hard to leave.
