I was born and raised there but moved to the United States in 1999 so I may be a little bit not up to date.
Purchasing Power - It was pretty bad then and I think it’s still bad if thousands of people moved to do manual labor in UK, Ireland and other countries. People don’t move out from rich countries.
Safety - It used to be dangerous then but when I last visited in 2006, it was much better. So, it’s probably accurate.
Health care - I think it’s not bad, everyone is covered, unlike in the US. Their medicine may not be very advanced but if you want something simple, it’s better than paying hundreds of thousands $$$ like in America.
Climate - High?! Excuse me! It’s always cold and windy and rainy and if it’s hot, it’s humid. It should be moderate, not high.
Cost of living - Not sure about prices today but probably it’s inexpensive, less than Western Europe.
Property price to income ratio - Latvians are not rich but the prices for property are pretty low too.
Traffic - I think it got better since many people emigrated. There is very good public transportation so no need for a car. It’s pretty decent.
Pollution - Bad air quality in the city, streets are dirty, in winter, fall and spring there is mud on the streets, dog and cat poop. Maybe it’s not as bad as in some countries in Africa but it’s pretty bad.
