The city offers a good quality of life with lots of tech opportunities, low traffic, good highways, decent light-rail transit, and nature nearby mainly in St. Jacobs and Cambridge. The negatives to this city are the homeless encampment and related issues downtown, and the very hard water supply in terms Calcium and Magnesium with concentrations of around 350 ppm, over 5 times higher than the average freshwater supply water hardness.

Since 2022 pollution has gone up significantly in Kitchener. Piles of trash needles and tents downtown. Big homeless encampment in Downtown area and smaller one in Victoria Park. Quality of the city has gone down significantly since 2022. Be warned. If in doubt check Google Street View for yourself.
