The traffic and pollution make living in Bucharest difficult. There is no plan to improve the air quality in place and traffic just gets worse and worse. Restaurants are low quality and overpriced. Often you will spend 30-40 Euro per person on a dinner for no good reason. The metro is great and if you are willing to drive 3-5 hours or take an unpredictable train you can get to some other cities or nature areas. It is more expensive than it should be, there is little in the way of good entertainment, the traffic is very bad and air pollution is worse each year.

Just returned today from Bucharest. One scoop of ice cream in upper class shop super downtown was 15 lei= 3euro. Swetshops are super expencive, McDonalds was cheap, beer in supermarket was less then euro for a half liter, coffe in cheap store was 10 lei 2 euro. Things are expwncice and not sure why, I think prime reason are hipsters with new shops and ideas than want to be actually somewhere else then in Bucharest. Stop selfhate and build a city that is for everyone not for fww. Prices down = people spend more= logic

The traffic itself during rush hour in Bucharest downgrades the city to negative levels. They need to add another category to the index "cleanliness", I'm done with stepping on little dog turds everywhere I go.

Coffee at starbucks is about 20 lei or 5 euro. Its absurd. Prices have increased dramatically. Meal out is at least 40lei at a super low key hole in wall outside the old town. Not to mention the food quality is super low. Chefs are pathetic here and expectations of the dining experience is very low

Is it polluted? Yep. Is traffic insane? Of course. Is public transport 30 years behind Cluj? You bet.
But still, Bucharest is the only proper city in Romania. If you're looking for the big city life and are interested in architecture, this is the place to be in Romania.
