Quality of Life in Ajijic, Mexico

I wasn't able to put anything under healthcare
If you are over 70, gringo, and want health cover. It will run about 5000 US dollars per person, per year and increases 1000 US dollars per person per year.
Also, medication costs, if buying meds that are certified by the govt have a very high cost out of pocket. At least 250 US dollars per month.
Housing costs have tripled in the past 6 years. A new 2 bedroom home will cost about 400 to 500 thousand US dollars. Rents are also very high. Often 2500.00 a month US for a 2-3 bedroom home.
Food costs, unless you go to Chapala market have increased a lot in 6 years as has the cost of eating out in a restaurant.
The road is always crowded.
Water in all wells is running low in all of lakeside area.
The beautiful weather is now very hot and rain is not falling.

We live in San Antonio Tlayacapan, 5 minute drive to Ajijic. It's considered the "next Ajijic". We love the tranquility, away from the noise and traffic of Ajijic. Our neighborhood is Chula Vista, close knit community where we know our neighbors, share lunch potlucks on occasion and we also have keys to each other's houses.The area is becoming popular now, with lots of new construction, younger families, architects and designers building or renovating properties. Highly recommended.
