Sofia stinks. It is a low-lying area beneath a mountain range, and a pollution trap, mostly from vehicles. While it has improved since the welcome closure of the Kremikovtsi steel plant, it is not a healthy environment unless you live in luxury developments in the mountain suburbs. Trash is everywhere, and green spaces few unless as above you live in a luxury quarter.
