Sofia is a pretty nice city, nice and green. You can see Vitosha mountain from your window. It's overpopulated as in nearing 3 mill. people in the city which is the reason why it gets a bit unbearable at times. It has nothing to do with the city, it's the provincial people who rarely have enough city culture or attitude to fit in. There are way too many cars exactly because of the same population. That said it's nothing compared to London situation in terms of cars, people, traffic or pollution. Or Paris, Delhi or other places for that matter. People whinge a lot and know way too little about the world pass their own window.

Every winter the air quality is horrible. It's just so draining to struggle to breathe... People are burning all kinds of stuff to heat themselves. A lot of cars are old or using low quality fuel or don't have the filtering thing or all of the above. This is still happening today! This week there was an absolutely horrifying pollution with numbers going up to and over 400 for PM2.5...
