The pollution levels in Kalyan are extremely high. With almost 650mts of dumping area right at the entrance of the West region, which is overloaded with landfills (and no action being taken by authorities after repeated complaints by residents) is really annoying and worrying.

With Kalyan-Dombivali's inclusion in GoI's smart city initiative, the question we residents want to ask is: In what way do we intend to get smart? Is giving free wifi at station OR beating roadside vendors to shut shop to clear way for pedestrians the only way to transform a city dying with pollution into a smart one? We have always taken pride in being surrounded by water bodies from 3 sides, what are the initiatives taken to protect our rivers? Our waterbodies are dying a slow death!! And an rotten icing on a poisonous cake is, every now and then the dumping ground is catching fire, leaving Kalyan city with a thick layer of poisonous smoke. What living condition is KDMC offering to us tax payers?? Jaago KDMC Jaago!!
