In my experience the focus of the relationship between my doctor here and me has been around preventative medicine rather than a reactive approach.
From the outset when registering with the doctor, although there is a fee to pay, in my case around £200.00 (GBP) for the year, I have been through an in-depth range of tests, including bloods, urine and stool, plus scans, x-rays and ecg that has established the level of health and fitness included in the fee.
The doctor is highly competent and knowledgeable, and capable of undertaking internal medical procedures. Consultations involve planning to maintain healthiness, are intelligent and informative.
I also attend a gym regularly that is a part of the medical practice where I am registered so have a training regime that is informed and monitored by the Doctor and staff.

Visitors to turkey should normally be covered by travel insurance for health eventualities. People who want to take up residence here need to buy health insurance here around £200.00 (GBP) per year. After a year you can buy into the basic contributory Turkish Health Care system, or take out a contract with a medical practice. Health insurance is not compulsory for over 65s and not a requirement for their residency permits.
