For well educated, professional Interstate people who've previously lived in salubrious, upmarket areas, moving to Queensland and Logan shire (in our case onto acreage for show horses) was a life-changing and shattering experience. The worst possible decision I could ever have made, albeit my own fault entirely, because I failed to research the area.

The crime rate is phenomenal, the drugs, road hoons, violence, low level of education (a Qld thing compared to Vic and SA), unemployment and lower socio-economic lifestyle/mind-set all make for an appalling and generally depressing lifestyle that becomes inescapable if one has spent all of one's money on property and moving expenses, and is unable to simply sell and move.

We have lived in the logan area since 1973 (except for 1990 to 1995) We built our first house in Kingston and now we have moved to Woodridge. In the beginning there was no crime to speak of and now it has increased but so has all areas of the world. We have been in Albert Street since 2011 and have never had any problems what so ever. Our neighbours keep to themselves but are friendly and look out for you. The street has many housing commission houses with an ethnic population but when I go out on my disability scooter they all say hello and are most pleasant even the young ones. We have been running our business here since 1980 so we have been to many homes in the area (as we do security screens and blinds) so we have a vast knowledge of who lives here and I would not go anywhere else. I even had a seizure on my way home once and the people were marvellous (nothing was missing and apparently they looked after me well until the ambulance and husband arrived. My husband said when he got there (he beat the ambulance) there were two rough looking older teens (in there twenties) cradling me in there arms and they went through my purse so they could find out who I was but there was nothing missing. Ilove living here as it is so close to everything.
