Having been two Honduras twice in the past two years I have seen a lot. Dont have specifics on the neighborhoods of La Ceiba but violence is rampant. Beaches are gang ridden and dangerous, the streets bordering the main street that leads to island ferry is littered with drug addicts and muggers. No police, no one to help a victim. Great food though. You run a GREAT risk of being robbed or assaulted if not in a group. Guns are everywhere as I have witnessed a shooting. Taxi drivers who pay no war tax to the local gang will intentionally divert to a location and you will get relieved of all your belongings. Stay for one night and be on your way to the islands. ALSO BEWARE!!!! Stay alert as it is a known fact that robbers do follow the buses that leave San Pedro Sula airport to gain knowledge of where you are staying. Hedman Alas is a good bus company but even they get hijacked. IF SOMEONE ATTEMPTS TO ROB YOU GIVE THEM EVERYTHING! THEY WILL NOT HESITATE TO KILL YOU!
