I have travelled all over the world but I always go back here in the City of Love (i.e. Iloilo City). Iloilo City maybe poor or maybe small but it is always and will be my beloved city.

All I've read so far pertains to the city's drug problem, crime rate, traffic situation and people losing their personal belongings theough no fault of their own or not, etc. What I'm interested is how's the weather? Is prone to storms, typhoons and is it usually flooded during the rainy season?

Been going there for over 15 years now. I live in NY and travel to Iloilo yearly. See nothing but improvement. Had cell phone taken after leaving in cab and even offered large reward for return. They never give back. My fault for not keeping safe. Other than that, it's still improving.....

Soo bad people, I am very ashamed that my sister had to experience the bad side of people living here. I am so sorry for my sister to come from tokyo and have her stuff stolen by some bad people. I hope not all people here are very bad.

Iloilo is way more progressive and safe than most of the cities here in the Philippines. Most of the people who comment that the city is home of drug addicts are fanatics of President who tagged the city as "Shabulized" (derived from the word Shabu which is a drug) because he never won any votes from the City. People should come and visit the City if they want to experience how clearly opposite the Ilonggo people live their life with safety, progressiveness and cleanliness. The city has beautiful linear parks and public places that the local Government had improved. The city's traffic is also minimal as compared to other major cities in the country.

Visited the city last January! Im amazed how despite being packed and crowded I did not experience losing a gadget or my wallet, lost a phone in manila, a gadget in cebu, I was worried my cam would get snatched but no! Im amazed how this city is identical to Singapore and the road is wider than in manila as well. Great place!

People are so nice and you wont have to worry about langguage barrier here! I'm surprised how good their english was. Very underrated city for sure.

I've stayed in iloilo city for well over a decade now. Drug problem is minimal in iloilo, mostly pety users. Most, if not all the big pushers are either dead or in jail. Just check the police statistics for the past 5 years.
You can use your cellphone while walking the streets and not worry about it being snatched.
Iloilo city is generally peaceful and the crime rate is low. Corruption is even lower thanks to a very aggredive local media, their the most fearless in the region in digging and exposing corruption.
The city is booming with a large ofw population, locally sourced income is high.

The comments about drugs are outdated. It's 2019 and Iloilo is booming way beyond what these 2016 press releases say. Where else in the Philippines can you find a beautiful riverside park that spans almost the entire city and you can walk freely around it even at night? Come to Iloilo and see for yourself. It's ranked one of the Top 10 safest cities in Southeast Asia by this site. See link: https://www.numbeo.com/crime/region_rankings.jsp?title=2019&region=035

No idea where these people saying Iloilo is full of drug users spent their time. I have walked this city many times from one side to the other. Alone and at 6.4 I can't hide anywhere. Never one single problem with locals at all. Many very friendly indeed. I consider Iloilo a safe place in general. But some can people find trouble in a church so maybe more about the person than the place I think.
