The comments about drugs are outdated. It's 2019 and Iloilo is booming way beyond what these 2016 press releases say. Where else in the Philippines can you find a beautiful riverside park that spans almost the entire city and you can walk freely around it even at night? Come to Iloilo and see for yourself. It's ranked one of the Top 10 safest cities in Southeast Asia by this site. See link: https://www.numbeo.com/crime/region_rankings.jsp?title=2019&region=035

No idea where these people saying Iloilo is full of drug users spent their time. I have walked this city many times from one side to the other. Alone and at 6.4 I can't hide anywhere. Never one single problem with locals at all. Many very friendly indeed. I consider Iloilo a safe place in general. But some can people find trouble in a church so maybe more about the person than the place I think.

Philippine President Duterte stated that "Iloilo is the most Shabulized province in the Philippines".

Pretentious in many ways, high amplitude promotion for many years as a retirement abode and yet not even a trickle of foreign pensioners , much more the pinoys have been drawn to this boring earthly geography . Oh my... sh##@¥

Iloilo is the worst place I've ever seen in my Philippine vacation. Almost everyone is using drugs. My wife was held with a knife in the slums.

Normally I don't come back on threads such as this but Oh My Geezus! this one's a doozy, I've been told by my wife that the City of Iloilo just underwent a Senate Inquiry by some senator named Grace Po(?) for the trespassing of a radio station done by a gun toting drug lord?! What the heck? What are the police doing??
