Comparing to London murder rate is silly because most London or Manchester murders are gang-on-gang and not relevant to ordinary people.

Where did you guys get your Informations ??

First of all both of you are wrong. There were 14 completed homicides and it's a rate of 1,86.

Second thing: I was born in this city and been living here 35 years. Frankfurt had worse times and it used to be a city where it should've been avoided. But Frankfurt is like ANY other European city, which is you can visit those places and it's safe. No matter if its London, Manchester or even Marseille. There are always dangerous boroughs.

But if we talk about the crimes and the general look at it, I take it from my personal experiences from what I've saw and heard. And Frankfurt has a big problem when it comes to violence. Tourist places are full with junkies, thieves, dealers and some violent people. There are neighbourhoods where even the police has a problem to step in. And when I hear the review from my friends in the UK about Frankfurt, they describe it worse than most of there own cities. BUT it's still safe here like any other city here and I think this site is exaggerating those European cities worse than it is. You just have to watch out. But saying that Frankfurt is safe than most of the UK cities is factually false

Frankfurts homicide rate is lower than Londons.
The crime statistics in Frankfurt also include attempted case which lead to cases appearing high.

For 2018 there were a total of 48 murder cases recorded in Frankfurt, but only 5 of these cases lead to an actual death, with most cases being’ “attempted cases”.

Based on these facts Frankfurts Homicide rate per 100,000 is as follows:
5 actual murder cases / 750000 population = 0.67 murder cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

For comparison:
2018 homicide rate of London was 1.4
2018 homicide rate of greater Manchester was 2.44

Conclusion: London’s homicide rate is more than twice the rate of Frankfurt, and Manchester’s homicide rate is almost 4 times higher than Frankfurt.
This shows that Frankfurt is much safer than most uk cities.

Frankfurt is overall a fairly safe city and by far much safer than London. There are a few areas which should be avoided at night such as the area outside the main station “Hauptbahnhof “, and you should use common sense walking around the public parks at night. But in general Frankfurt is a fairly safe city.

@Anonymous tbf you can't compare boroughs with a whole city cause that's basically the whole point. You have a bigger chance to be a victim. And by that logic, there are even worse boroughs in Frankfurt than in London. London is way safer than you lot think

@Rolf I did mistake because 9 of them were negligent homicides.
Frankfurt had 2019 69 murder offences which is written in the PKS Frankfurt. And calculated with the inhabitants of this city which is 750k, we'll come around a rate of 9,4

Maybe just don't go the Hauptbahnof, Konstablerwache, Hauptwache, or the Red Light District at night, it's not the best all the time. Apart from that, great city.

Its kinda safe to hangout with friends at night too, just a few problems like druggies, junkies, thieves and others. Apart from that it's a kid friendly place.

@Anonymous-where do you get this information? That can't be the true

Just look at documentaries and research...especially the train station. This city makes other cities in europe look like a kindergarten.

I honestly can't understand us Brits complaining about our places even though it's totally fine there. I thought myself that Germany is gonna be nice, but when I saw Frankfurt and experienced things over there, then I think all of us should visit it to appreciate how it is in England. Totally fucked up crimes and gangsters over there. And the train station is an absolute nightmare. There's no other place in Europe which is like the central station at Frankfurt...

I've lived my whole life in Frankfurt and all I can say is that it's too underrated if we look at the crime rate. The homicide rate last year was by 7.4 which is extremely high for an european city. There are too many reports about theft, burglars, assault and many more. There are places where the police has problems to go to since there are many assaults against the police. It definetly has its good sides and I'm happy to live here, but if you're saying that you were never worried about yourself living here then you're not honest with yourself
