I lived in dar es salaam for a long time and i realised that the best way to go to Tanzania without no problem is to avoid Dar es salaam.

Dar- es - salam is quite safe and peaceful. Crime happens every where on earth. All we need to do is be safe and remain alert. Why to believe on stranger if you are grown up. In whole I like this place and would like to work here for long.

We just had our home broken into and a lot of items were stolen. It is very unsafe to walk alone at night in Dar Es Salaam's City Center and on the Msasani Peninsula. Lots of people walk for exercise in the early morning. I have lived here a little more than seven months and during that time an American was stabbed on the street while thieves were trying to steal his girlfriend's purse (he died); our house was robbed; a friend's son was accosted by men while he was walking on a street and when he didn't have anything to give them, they cut him badly with a broken bottle; a friend was riding his bicycle during daylight hours and a car came by and the occupants grab the backpack he was wearing, knocking him off of his bike and stole everything he had, including the bike; a colleague was walking alone at night and a car's occupants grabbed his backback as the car continued driving, dragging him along! (he recovered); a nearby vegetable market was being robbed and the police shot the perpetrator; and this is just what I have heard of!

Tanzania is very nice place to be if you got host , and its true there are gangs, robbers,e.t.c I suggest if you want to move in dar es salaam better find some one who may lead you to look for which, what, where,to live and have fun and also dont's find like hosters may be,
