I have enjoyed Campinas so far on visits but have been constantly on-guard. A few times I felt like I was in a sketchy situation, once was during the day. My father in law and his wife were kidnapped, robbed, car stolen; my brother in law the same thing. These were separate instances. Lots of good things in the city as well, just be careful and don't be flashy.

Campinas is a well-dressed basket case of racist hubris...It all has been and always will be.
