Everybody says that Bratislava is one of the safest city in Europe... well, this is because of no immigration.
Wherever there are immigrants from Africa or middle east there is crime and violence.

I live in Bratislava for around 8 years as a foreigner from Germany (male). I never had any problem with crime at all. Also my female woman walk home at night. I feel very save here. I had never a problem with corruption personally, even I had a company here as long you are not doing business with the government (see below my comment there). Police is fine, sure they make some tourist car control on some special places but they never you can talk to them and they never ask for money, etc.

Corruption is a problem, but in my point of view only on high politician level, like EU money for IT projects or building infrastructure. Which is funny that EU (money) is one if the main reason of corruption in Slovakia... Sure as well all government project are corrupted too, which everyone knows (hidden by hundreds of requirements to get the contract, that everyone can be declined which is not a brother/friend of someone by not fulfilling ONE of the requirements)

In the 12 years i've lived here, nothing has happened to me. I think it is pretty safe in Bratislava, maybe less in the rural areas. Just be careful at night, use common sense etc. Also the corruption is in the politicians, not the cops so don't try bribing them. Other than that, Bratislava is a very safe place to be.

Safer than most European capitals.

Corruption is reported high here, but if so, then maybe among politicians and councilors. Definitely not among street cops, do not try to bribe them when in trouble!

All the crimes I have heard of happened in rural areas at night so just dont walk home alone late at night taking a shortcut through a field or a park. Otherwise it feels safe.

I was born in Slovakia. City is generally safe. Pickpocketing in public transport is possible, tough not that common (never happened to me over 20yrs there). Day or night, you will be ok. Maybe stay out of empty streets in the night, but that is common sense. When comes to bribery, it may be reported as high, but that applies for politicians rather than common police force. Oh yeah, and don't use local taxi services, they will rip you off badly, go for public transport or Uber.
