A calm city on the exterior but has a very corrupt police: talked in their goobeldy goop language while I was driving and just grunted “money you pay”. Was accosted by a prostitute too but that’s common in any Eastern European city.

Overall, be vigilant but have fun.

Pretty much feels like I could take a lil' nap on a park bench at 3 in the morning and have no worries. I've walked great distances through Belgrade alone at night many, many times, and I've never encountered a single safety hazard from anyone.
Of course, I'm a man, but still. About as safe as cities get as long as you don't go around waving a hostile flag or something.
Belgrade has its share of problems, but safety ain't one of 'em.
