@Visi 15- 25$ a day cooking food? are you crazzy? produce in Albania was cheaper and more available then almost anywhere I've been even in Canada where food is instantly expensive easy 10times that of Albania and y you can eat well for 14$ a day. as for when we were abit further north. we ate at nice restaurants and and could hardly spend more then 25$ for two people. with food leftover. let alone when we went to the market..

There are a lot of inaccuracies in the data.
As someone who lives in Tirana for more than 20 years and most of the day I am outside the house I do not think that a meal in an inexpensive restaurant is that high. You will have a decent meal for no more than 400-500 ALL. Also transport has become a little bit more expensive since March 2016 from 30 to 40 for local transport (one way) and monthly pass is now 1600 from 1200 before. One pair of Levis jeans are far more expensive than 6000, between 9000 to 11000. Apartment (3 bedrooms) in City Centre does not costs 73000 everywhere and I think only some specific zones may apply this rate.
Anyway it will be a good idea to come and visit Tirana and other cities in Albania as here are very reasonable prices especially for Eurpean and North America countries regarding Albania's geographical position and its beautiful tourist attractions.

Living in Tirana:
You will force yourself to live near the center, preferably west side of the city.
One family costs of living are 1200$/month following a moderate lifestyle, rent is not included.
If you search you can find a very good apartment for 250$/month (90m2-100m2)near center of tirana.
Per person if you cook yourself you need 15$ a day minimum. IF you want to live normally you need 25$/day.
So 250$+600$= 850 $ living costs without your own car.
Including car you need 1000$/ month. For 2 persons 1200$, for 3 persons 1400$/month.
Not including medical expenses.Or private education.

i think that with a salary of 24.000$ a year you get to live a great life in Tirana !! Its a nice city and it provides almost everything you need for your everyday activities .
#Denis on Aug 18, 2015 :
No Jobs, low salaries, low quality of health care,
No respect on human rights, low quality of infrastructure the best discription for this city and generally the country is just like an african 3rd world country

I've Been visiting Tirana for over 6 years now this time I plan to go move there April 7th 2015 here is some advice for you people if you want to live in Tirana...

You can find a nice 1 bedroom apartment in the nicest parts to rent for 250-350 euro a month
The eating cost well I usually got a pound of chicken wings for 2.00 to 2.50$ and they would be grilled to perfection or a nice big pizza for 2.00 I would fill up with 8-10$ a day at the most if you know the right places.
300-350 for a nice apartment and its bills
350 for food per month you looking at = 700$ so far
For fun activity there is a lot of night life in Tirana...
you wont need more then 300-500 a month$ depends
I would say total cost of living for one person to live a pretty nice life

[[[[[1200-1300 dollars]]]]]]] and once you learn the place you will find better deals and can make your money

so you would be spending 30-35$ a day for cost of living maybe less
Now for transportation in the city you wont need it unless your going outside Tirana is a small big city I just walked my way around everywhere cause everything is really close and if you need to travel outside the city say to beaches in the summer you can go with a Taxi van which can be very cheap 10-20$ but a private taxi would cost up to 70-100$ and hotels can be 15$to50$ a night

Now for jobs in Albania its very hard to find a good paying job most people who make good money have a business or are in politics but some people do have good jobs in the private sectors if you have the right skills for whatever job your looking for you might be able to find eventually Its not impossible as Albania is moving forward these times and the future is looking better then its past

If you have anymore questions please feel free to email at me as I will be in Tirana April 7th

The difference between dollar and euro is 1 dollar= 100 albanian (lek) 1 euro=140 albanian (lek) so your salary 800 euro is 800 euro x 140 albanian (lek)=112000(in albanian means 1 milon and 12000 lek). The dollar doesnt change 800$ is 80.000 (lek) because 800 dollar x 100 albanian lek=80.000.
For a family of 3 person what is the maximum expense for a month 50.000-60.000lek, 500$-600$, 300-400 euro.
Monthly electric, gas, water and heating bill is about 3500-5500 lek in dollar is the same 35$-55$ in euro is 25 euro-45 euro in month.
School fee-for children is free for university is 20000-30000 lek in year now convert in dollar is 200$-300$ convert in euro is 140 euro--220 euro in year.
which is better to travel around the city Taxi or Bus which is cheaper? Bus is much cheaper 30 lek 0.3 dollar 0.2 euro
Electronic goods cost like Air conditioner, refrigerator? I recomand refrigerator is more cheap because doesnt spend much energy.air conditioner is expensive.
In Tirane where can i get cheap and fresh vegetables mall center like TEG or other supermarchet
I hope i was helpful.Lori.
#sandeep on Feb 19, 2014 :
Hello Lori thanks for reply. I am asking so many questions because i don't know any thing about Tirane as you said you are in UK so like London we all know London is most expensive city in world but i don't have any idea about Tirane. so again i have a big question for you please give me detail idea and please clear me the difference between dollar and euro because in some massages you mention dollar and euro both:-
1) Monthly grocery expense for 3 person?
2) Monthly electric, gas, water and heating bill?
3) School fee?
4) which is better to travel around the city Taxi or Bus which is cheaper?
5) Electronic goods cost like Air conditioner, refrigerator?
6) In Tirane where can i get cheap and fresh vegetables?
7) For a family of 3 person what is the maximum expense for a month?
I don't want house rent because that is covered by my company.

Waiting for your positive reply.

Alessio its not true that albania is filled with crime.Today things are changed(because new goverment has come) and the contry is making progress with crime and corruption.Soon Albania will be a potencial contry you will see that...
#Alessio on Dec 06, 2013 :
Stay away from Albania, its filled with crime corruption, if you are a foreigner chances of getting robbed or killed are very high, there we robberies and killing, for instance there were 4 check republic that disappeared, there was one guy from UK that got killed and stabbed in Lezha city and many others, a guy from Palestina working for a company in Kruja got his house blown with explosive, It may be good to visit and still be very cautious but to live there just pray to God to save you.Remember many hard core criminals and gang bangers are returning from Europe as they are expelled and high unemployment makes Albania a very dangerous country, if you read Albania has a huge gang and mafia problem and Albanian gangsters are very vicious and violent and known all over the world, just google it and you will see, just in 1997 there were almost 100000 killed in gang wars.
#ARBER on Dec 06, 2013 :
This site is a completely bull shit or maybe took those info 20 years ago, to find an apartment luxury in Center CITY of Tirana IT COST NO LESS THEN 500 EUROS FOR A STUDIO AND IF YOU FIND AN APARTMENT WITH ONE OR TWO BEDROOM GO FOR MORE THEN 800 EUROS outside of center city will cost no less then 350 euros, LUNCH IN A MEDIUM RESTAURANT IN TIRANA GOES ABOVE 30 EUROS FOR SURE.
#ALBATROS on Dec 06, 2013 :
@PONY, YOU CAN NOT GET A JOB IN ALBANIA, UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN ALBANIA IS OVER 50% and many people looking for jobs here ESPECIALLY NOW WITH THE EUROPEAN CRISIS THAT MAKES IMPOSSIBLE FOR ALBANIANS TO GO TO WORK ABROAD. Too many civil engineers like you here that finished school in the prestigious universities of Europe and North America and they speak at least 3 languages accept Albanian Language, plus you must know people to get a job and many jobs are found through family connection or friendship circles so there are many too qualified people looking for job.Your chances here of getting a job are not even zero but minus.
