Hey, I was offered a job at a troll farm. Is 30 roubles per comment enough to survive here or should I ask for more?
Alexander Selenskikh on Apr 20, 2019:
You can find one bedroom apartments in the city outskirts not far from Metro stations for as low as 10000 rubles per month.

If you're planning to live in St.Petersburg here's some things to consider:

24000+R Rent. A studio will cost you 18000+R per month. Plus ~6000R for Utilities (summer is cheaper, since you have to add Heating in winter).
7000+R Food (if you want to stay healthy at least).
2000R Transportation.

33000R in total. And most of that is Rent.

The cost of the rent is mostly depends on how close the Apartment located to the Metro station.
You may explore prices here: (it has only Russian UI)
Also, take a look on criminal activity maps:

If you want to spend less on groceries try to find apartment near one of the Super/Hypermarkets:
Lenta, O`key, Spar, Carousel. Or chains like: Pyatyorochka, Perekrestok, Dixy.
There are also other ones, like Auchan and Prisma, most can be found here:

2 #Mch that's more than enough. Eat in canteens (stolovaya, столовая), 150-300 rur is enough to be full. Also, kebab (shawarma) price is 140 rur))

How much rublos do I need for living for 1 month in Saint Petersburg? (Basic Life) How much rublos do I get if I work on Saint Petersburg at the night and studying during the day per 1 month? I'm single. Can I just work and pay all my necessities?

I'll be staying in St Petersburg for the month of July as a student. Have a very very tight budget. Worried because of the world cup as it may cause price hike. May not be possible to cook my own food all the time, have to look for inexpensive eateries. Is it possible to cover cost of food and transport with around 35000 rubles? Assuming 80 rubles for transport everyday.

Yes, with that salary you can live quite comfortably in St Pete. I'd say $1000 a month for a family of three would more than enough for groceries.

I have lived in St Pete for 20 years. The prices shown on that site are a bit too high. A hearty meal for two in a nice mid-range chain restaurant will cost you less than 2000.
Improted beer is less than 200 r, you can get Finnish beer for 80-100 if you shop in a big supermarket.
The cost of utilities depends on the season. You pay twice as much October through April.

Depends on what tasks and amount of work you will have. This kind of freelance work can be paid very well and not.

@#m_65 Man, I've worked as an English teacher with zero experience and not even a native speaker, just learned a lot by living abroad. I've made around 30-40K rubles per month and I didn't even have full schedule at the time. If you have three years of experience teaching, you've lived in an English speaking country, 50K is more than doable. Depends on where you are from, of course, and especially your accent. If you have a horrible accent, your teaching experience was somewhere in Mongolia, then the 50K figure is unlikely. But native English speakers from all over the world can easily make more than 100K.

Best place to look at English teaching positions are private courses/language centers, they offer the best options for both students and teachers. is a good place to start.

I'm planning to move to Peterburg this summer.
I'm single and plan to stay in Russia. I'm a certified English teacher with over 3 yrs of experience.
I speak Russian and I love it, so the language won't be a problem for me.
So far I don't have a job offer (Haven't been looking really) but I've estimated a salary of about 50,000 руб/month.
How much should I be expecting to earn by teaching English in Saint-Petersburg? Will I have any opportunities for any private classes and in such case, how is the payment?
Can I maintain a normal life with 50K a month?
Any suggestion or insight is highly appreciated.

Starting from 2015 if you want to live in Saint-Petersburg (SPB) I recommend you salary starting from 2k usd (120 000 rub) monthly. in my opinion you can leave here starting from this salary no less. It is enough for two person family. One bedroom flat ~600$ in center. It means two rooms and kitchen, because in Russia we count rooms without separation to guest room and bedroom. But more money is better. And we all spend money by different ways) so it just my opinion. I live here with my own flat, with 4 ppl family (wife and two kids) with 2.5 k usd and it is pretty enough for me.

Good luck!
