Zona Dorada is okay. Humidity and hot temps may bother some. It's July and I've not seen 80F yet. No skeeters like in Mérida. It was easy to settle in here. Food shopping is limited on the beach. Bring your fav coffee unless you prefer instant or weak, brown, tasteless stuff more appropriate for a toilet.

reality the temperature is in the low 80s for July compared to Portland in the 100s The hot humid months are mid August through October. The best weather is June and early July. The truth is that living in Mazatlan it is cooler than most of the US. In fact Denver is hotter than Mazatlan for all of this week. The Rainy season starts in July raining at night. Most mornings in July start out at 78 degrees warning up to mid 80s It is easy to get an apartment here in the winter. The issue is that Mexican's rely on pocket listings. Because most gringos are lazy they wont knock on doors. Lots of posting. Knowing the language helps but having a few Mexican friends will really help.

Mazatlan is a huge tourist trap year round. Nationals vacation in the summer and foreigners snowbird in the winter months.
Due to the high population of foreigners the prices of things a high as well, especially around water front areas. The locals shop way in town to get reasonable prices for every day things.
During the winter months it is almost impossible to rent an apartment because they are unavailable. The locals now have figured out to rent their apts for the day/week, never the month because that isn't profitable.
Weather: Summer: Bloody hot and humid: 85-90 Fahrenheit @ 60-80% humidity, yes you will sweat all day and roast. Only escaping is indoors will A/C.

Great source of information. Some ideas as to available brands and recommend retail stores would also be helpful
