I just come back from a business trip in bahrain in preparation of a relocation from the US and I was shocked to see the disparity between what 3 realtors showed me, and what your website shows regarding prices for housing. I will grant you that I am american and that I will not take any sort of accomodation, but I come from the countryside in the US where housing is cheap and plentiful, and Bahrain was a change. There is hardly anything in the "middle range" in Bahrain, so that the minimum for westerners seems to be already at the lower end of luxury housing.
I did not see a single apartment that was at less than 850 BHD per month (all inclusive), and the cost of utilities bills was provided to us when we visited a 2br "house", not apartment, in Amwaj and a small 3br house in Saar, and both had closely matching amounts. These utilities costs are also bound to go up very soon as the subsidies are being pulled away for expatriates.

A lot of people here asking whether their X salary is enough or not enough, left unanswered.

A short answer if you are being offered only on base salary only, even it's seems so attractive than your current salary, it is still not enough because an expat needs is different from the locals such as relocation cost, home commitment cost, foreigner emergency/health cost, high school cost etc.

Some recent international HR survey/study shows that even the offered salary seems much higher then your current home salary , you will lose in the long run if you don't negotiate and ask as much as possible for your expat package.

Average 2 bedroom flat in manama(gudaibya/hoora) would cost BHD 200(unfurnished) to 450(furnished) to 550(with amenties like swiming pool gym etc).

Cost of food varies - BHD 0.5 for a masala dosa and tea, 1 bhd for mutton/chicken, 2.1 for KFC dinner meal(3 piece chicken), etc

You can get friends/private taxi, which would cost 1.5 to 3.5 from manama(hoora/guidabya) to city centre, airport...

Then some foods are subsidized eg Mutton (Local/Aust.) is 1 BHD per kg, etc. better not to buy expensive indian(4 to 5 BHD/KG), but some people likes only that ...

So average 250 to 300 BHD for a family of 4, excluding rent, with proper weekend outing/restaurent food - Upper mid class lifestyle, avoiding expensive resturent and window shopping.

The educational cost is around 30(indian school, CBSE) to 300(international) + books additional.

Internet 60GB 4G is 25BHD (2years contract), you may get internet in a fully furnished appartment.
