13k that is per month not per annum and it is gross, so deduct the tax. You can spare around 6k each month.
#Anonymous on Jan 10, 2020 :
Hi guys,

I got an offer 13k PLN per annum. Is this a good salary for single man in Krakow ?

thank you
#Anonymous on Jan 07, 2020 :

That is good retirement money but you cannot buy a flat from it.

You can rent a nice flat just from that amount for four years. Relocating and renting a flat should not be an issue, but you should work too in Poland.

Correction retirement is $37,227 and our daughter would need to attend an English speaking school, she is in 8th grade.

Retired US Military with a retirement of $32,227 US dollars. My wife of 16 years is Polish and we are thinking of making a move to her homeland. Is that enough to live in Krakow?

1. 32% income tax is counted ONLY for income ABOVE 85.528zł.
2. Below 85.528zł you are paying 17% income tax, NOT 19%. Previously it was 18%, decreased this year to 17%.
3. 19% income tax is ONLY for entrepreneurs (so-called line tax). Line tax is paid for all income (I am using this taxation).

HI guys. Is 8000 zloty a good salary for one person in Krakow ?"

For one person it is rather not good salary, because of the tax you will have to pay. When you are paid 8000 per month, it means that you are then in the 2nd tax treshold. It causes that you need to pay 32% tax (+9% for public health care and so on), instead of 19% (+9%), which is paid by people who earn less than 85.528zł per year. The 2nd tax treshold starts when you earn at least 85.528zł in whole year. So 12 x 8.000zł = 96.000zł. Your net salary will be arround 4.700zł per month.

The most of your salary you will spend for renting a flat - If you rent a flat with 2 rooms, you will pay around 2000-2500zł - depends on the part of the city. When your net salary is low, it is better to rent 1 room in a flat with 2-3 rooms, where other people live - you will then pay around 1.000zł per month for a rent a kind of room. It allows you to save more money. For utillities you will pay about 300-400 zł (or 150-200zł when renting only room), then you need to add to this other things like internet, telephone (I pay 70zł, but it is lower than average) - sometimes internet is included in renting price; public transport - mothly pass for you (who will probably not pay taxes in Kraków) 90zł (for those who pay taxes here - 69zł). Take into account, that probably you want to have an access to Netflix or other kind of tv (Idk how much is this in PL - I don't use that kind of things).

I believe that 8000zł is the beginning proposition. Your salary probably will be higher in next months or in one year. If your english is very good or if you are native speaker and/or speak also another langueage, and if you have an experience, you should be paid about 10.000zł-12.000 - depends on the sector in which you want to work. I've heard that people who work in IT, are paid about 13.000-18.000 zł per month. In my corpo you would be about about 6.000zł. Of counrse in Poland it is not an ussual salary (13-18 thousand) - that is why, if your yearly salary is higher than 85.528zł, you need to pay additional tax, that I described above.

For example, if you earn 10.000zł per month, then you get 120.000zł in wholoe year. You need to pay 32% tax (+9%), so your net salary will be arround 5.900zł - it is quite good, but do remember that you need to save money, if you want to buy a car or something expensive.
#Anonymous on Nov 17, 2019 :
I am affraid that Monthly Pass in public transport for 94zl is to high. I understand, that this price is for people who do not pay taxes in Krakow, but normaly this is 69zl for all lines in the Krakow's public transport. This is price for those who live here and pay taxes.

Progressive Tax in poland? Who pay that? We have fixed 19% income tax rate for B2B if you earn over this 20000 euro/year you have B2B and 19% and only 300 euro for Social Security and paying less then your cleaner.
#Anonymous on Dec 26, 2018 :
@Slef Poland has progressive personal income tax rates. To distribute surplus from rich and most of them smart people Poland have income cap around 20000euro annual income. Higher tax rate applied for only what is higher than cap.

Hi folks,

do someone know how much do I spend for food every month? I am an single man, rarely eat meat, prefer local and seasonal food. I do not go often to restaurant, but like to buy some street food from time to time.

My budget is 1000 zloty per month. But it would be nice if spend less. Is 600 - 800 Zlot realistic?

How much it cost annually for a Good International English Primary School? 4500 zl per month around 45k per year. Price sky rocketing due to a lot of share service centers include reimbursement for external expat's kids school tuition. Same happens with property prices..a lot of hedge funds invest in properties(commercial&residential). For them money is 'cheap'. For you these are price of big city.

You can rent some great 60-70m2 3-room apartments, brand new built 2016/2017 in city centre for like 800€/month.
#Sp on Oct 22, 2017 :
With 8k before taxes salary (around 1900 euros) you rent one of the best apartments (1-2 bedrooms) in krakow (2300 zloty all include) out of center and the rest money living like a king & queen. The above statistics it's near to reality. Avoid the agencies try to find direct renters from FB groups. You have 6-12 months contracts. You have almost 33% taxes insurance etc. So after taxes you will receive more or less 1250 euros which is very very good salary!!!!

FYI normal living in Cracow from my experience, average from last 7 months. I live with my fiancé and a cat.
Flat with everything included also internet, near Vistula and Kazimierz, older standard but very nice neighbourhood: ~1800
Food vegan and healthy, often buying exotic food and included eating out and alcohol (1 fan of craft beers): ~1100
Monthly transportation pass is 90 but you can buy for 50 for 1 line, 20min single ticket is 2,8
I don't use car a lot but my friends spend about 250
Overall for living: 4750 (excluding electronics, gifts and travels) for us two. We buy what we want and don't really give up on any caprices, often take part in cultural activities like concerts, like to try new things. We don't party though.

Response to #Eriks question (on Apr 15, 2016):

It's a good salary for living. For rent you will spend around 1800/2000 pln per month. 2800 pln for living is fair enough.

Dear Numbeo, Your data on Cracow buy/rent flat must be really out date. Please, try to buy me 60 sqm flat in city center for 8000/1sqm. Apartments (new or after total refurbishing) in city center are minimum 1 500 000.00 plz / 60 sqm. I don't speak about second hand market.

Hi all,

Moving to Krakow soon.
Would like to ask whether 7000 pln/gross is enough to a single person, who would like to rent apartment more or less in the city center, 1-2 bedroom, 35-45 square meters in size.

Many thanks indeed for your kind help!
#Tomasz on Mar 17, 2016 :
I am a resident of Krakow. I confirm that the prices are more or less correct. For a modest life you need about 2500 PLN per month (3500-4000 PLN for a couple) if you do not have an apartment here and want to rent it (1 bedroom! reasonable distance from the center, good public transport). Of course you can survive on less by renting bed in the 2-3 seaters bedroom (500-800 PLN / seater).
#Garland on Feb 26, 2016 :
Retiree living pretty austere lifestyle with 5.500 PLN/month total to live on after taxes. Need only single bedroom or studio apartment in area where I can walk to Old Town Square and train station. Have stayed in Kazimierz for several weeks, and this is fine. Is this realistic, please?
