I've already booked my seat for next week and ready to enjoy such an incredibly cheap life :))) After visiting there I'm gonna write how close these numbers to reality.

When you list Kharkiv, Ukraine as 26 on cost of living index, does that include housing which should be ? Also, what constitutes a 100 on your scale? Please advise, thank

You would have to be as brainwashed and stupid as US citizens who voted for George W to want to live in the USA. A great country decades ago. Now khazakastan has a better quality of life LOL

#Ukaji on Aug 01, 2015 :
Hello everyone.

Let me express myself

First off, log in to the CIA website its open to public where they provide demographic details on immigrants and so forth. And you can CLEARLY see that there are huge amounts of people that came to USA lived/abused/raped the welfare system and came back to their own country. Russia/Ukraine/Belarus at the TOP of the list of people RE-Turning back home.NO OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD has the amount of people going back home.

1. NO PROPERTY TAX you buy a CONDO/HOUSE you own it not to mention that its very cheap
2. Utility bills mad cheap more like pennies on a dollar
3. New buildings are built constantly in the city. Consider this I can purchase a PENTHOUSE on the 20th FL for about 200-300kUSD in the same building I can buy Commercial space on 1st FL to run some sort of business. WHERE IN USA I CAN DO THAT ???? In the CITY CENTER.(Manhattan? Millions) I can live and work in the same building. Penthouse too much?, simple 2br Condo $50k in Kharkov center city NOT boonie outer lines.

If you got at least $1k pension/income/retirement your a golden cookie. And if you got more then you are rolling. It all depends if you buy your own crib or rent. Currently rent 100-200 USD in city a month or buy for 30-50k. Food would be the most expense and taxi rides. $50 USD for a cab and a dinner for 2 and come back home. WHAAAAA??? ( one would say expensive......) But than again it all depends what life style you are used too.TIE-Massage cost $30-50, escort $30-100. Regular massage 10-15$. Mani,Pedi-cure 10-15$ There is NO GOLF in Ukraine but you can go hunting for excessively over grown coyotes(bear like) in Chernobyl area.

Wow come to think of it... It is expensive. Perhaps Malaysia

Kharkiv s a really nice, safe, peaceful, clean, cheap place compare to Hanoi-Vietnam where i came from. I m a student (study in english) and have been living in kharkiv for already almost a year but still i couldnt believe that i just need $200 to survive in here for a month (i live in dormitory) which could last only 1/3 month in my country >.< but suck that not many people can really speak english here (out of the street, supermarket, market, store, etc.) so i have to study also russian to communicate w them :P

Very interesting resource... also as comments )))
I live in Kharkov for about 20 years, also i visited all the cities of Ukraine, and i can tell that Kharkov is the best one.... not only because i live here )), It's big enough ... population is about 1,5-2,0 mln of people... has many machinery, industry objects.... many Universities.... Kharkov is also called Student's capital of Ukraine.... so many pretty girls ))) (Married twice))))
So i don't think there are any reasons to be afraid of my city.... Don't believe about that bullshit with guns, that anyone can have ((( Total bullshit....If you don't want to be a criminal... you don't have to be afraid to meet someone with guns...
About price of living... i think that prices that're shown here... are close enough to reality... so if you earn about 2.000 $ - that's enough to live on the middle range....
If you have any other question about my native city - please welcome on my email gektor9997@gmail.com

The sense of security and well being disappears. You will be living in a country were most people keep to themselves, so help from a stranger is unheard of. You will find that most people will ignore you if you do not speak the language. If they do pay attention to you nine times out of ten it is they know you have money and they might be able to obtain some one way or another. I visit with my wife who is native of Kharkov every couple of years and it is a beautiful place to visit. But live there...no... that's why we live in Canada. Ask any recent immigrant from Russia and Ukraine why they moved away to Europe or US or Canada, because of feeling safe and secure and knowing that these countries have social programs to look after their citizens.

If you did speak fluent Russian or Ukrainian you would then understand why the people of these eastern countries are the way they are (not suggesting anything bad)if you are subject to a hard and difficult life you become a person that does not see things in a pleasant way.

prices given above should be decreased at least by 15 - 20% to became what they really are

I am currently dating a Ukrainian woman and if things get serious as I think they are,I am thinking about purchasing a property there. She has family there and I don't have much here.I spend a lot of time on the job,so it would be selfish of me to relocate her to the U.S with no one around her.I'm not worried about the "language barrier" because Tatyana will obviously be my guide there.I haven't spoken to her about this yet.My question is what city in Ukraine would one most want to settle down in and roughly what would be the price range for a place in a decent area?Any help would be appreciated.Thank you!

@Jim,
Kharkov is cheap. I lived there for several months while studying abroad for my University. I'm American, and only had a limited knowledge of Russian, but I managed to do fine. You should be aware that it isn't a terribly safe place (at least it wasn't when I was there, about five years ago). As for firearms, my understanding is that it's actually possible to own some legally as a member of a hunting club (but fairly difficult, think Class III firearms in the United States). You should also note that illegal firearms are not terribly difficult to get there. I am absolutely not suggesting that you break the law, but you should be aware that this is the type of place that Kharkov is. I'm also not trying to be in any way offensive toward Ukrainians, this is based on a discussion that I had with my professor, a Ph.D. who taught post-soviet politics at the local university...as well as running into several individuals who seemed to have easy access to guns that were obviously not for "sport". So just...be safe.
