If anyone is thinking about saving money, I would recommend working in Europe over Vietnam.....
Local people live in rooms that cost 2 or 3 million tops. But they are very basic, perhaps only a bed and a toilet. I wanted something with my own kitchen, bed and tv so I pay 4.5 million plus bills, for a total of around 5 million every month.
15 million is a really good salary for Hanoi. For a local I mean. Most English teachers make easily 20 or 30 million. If you are a native English speaker looking for an adventure, come to Hanoi! Finding job as a teacher is super easy (as of 2020).
If you make more than $1000 then you will be definitely fine. I make $600 and I live a local lifestyle (public transportation, visit mostly Vietnamese pubs/restaurants, shop at local markets) and I get to send a third of my salary to my family every month.
