Cost of living in Bergen County is one of the highest in the East coast. Property value has increased by 25% in the last 3 years; property taxes range between $12K to $22K per year. The pros of living in this area is the quality of life with suburban vibe, while being relatively closed to NYC for work commute, public schools are great and there is a lot of free activities: parks, natural centers, hiking trails, gigantic malls, access to main highways, quality food etc. The drawbacks are property taxes which have become ridiculous and prices for some essentials. Overall, living in Bergen County's boroughs equates to quality of life, with very little crime, and great place to raise kids and have quality of life away from busting NYC.
