Safe city, OK and cheap healthcare, friendly people, lots speak foreign languages - especially english and german. Strong cofee-shop culture, very political. University city. Good position (relatively close to Austria, Hungary, Slovenia/Alps, the Adriatic coast, even Italy is not so far), lots of green spaces (Maksimir, Sljeme where you can go hiking by taking a tram). Very Austrian/German architecture and look. Very cheap for an expat, especially compared with other European cities. Sometimes a bit disorganized and the climate can be cold in the winter. All in all nice place.
