In Taipei, or generally in Taiwan, the property prices are not transparent, which in other countries, like Singapore, would be regarded as illegal. The offered price is always gross, meaning that you even need to pay for “public area”. Prices are for a ping, which is 3,3 m2. In my example, the price per ping in city center is 1.000.000 NTD. With public area of 30% (at least) it gives you a per ping price of approx. 1.430.000 NTD. Divided through 3,3 it gives you 433.000 per m2 approx. But in reality you will never find this area either. If you ask why, the answer will be that you need to deduct walls etc. Furthermore the same m2 price will be charged even for non living area like a balcony, or a parking lot. And remember, in Taiwan, there’s absolutely no storage room when you buy/rent an apartment.
