You are lying or don't understand what Disposable Salary is Debbie. I suspect that you don't understand since you don't seem to know what "full time middle income" means either.

Oh, perhaps it's that people keep calling you average? They are just being polite.

Have lived in Brisbane over 30years and know very few people except public servants and " full time middle income earners "who earn the income you quote as "average "

Many people are running two or three jobs to get that kind of money and heaps are not able to get full time secure employment.or those 2/3 jobs and therefore cannot committ to mortgages or quality rentals. I would guess heaps of people like many I know pay more than half on rents, not including utilities. The weather's good which makes the lack of spendable or saveable income ok

P.s. State school primary education is free but school uniforms supplies books transport food and sports gear are supplied by parents or carers. Sometimes levies are introduced to cover some school need. High schools usually Impose some financial requests. Often fetes and carnivals are held to raise funds. Private schools can range from $8-30 thousand dollars and more per annum.
