Moved to Amsterdam with my wife, from Phoenix AZ

We never expected to make so much money here, as we already did well in Phoenix.

Research "dutch holding pros" if you want to know what i mean. Great international tax structure.

@Pavel Mukhin

Prices came down a bit compared to income, economy pretty stable in NL compared with rest of Europe.
Pavel Mukhin on Mar 09, 2026:
OK, aparently this is computed per a household, not per person. But then the math also doesn't add up:
> In early 2026, the average property price per square meter in Amsterdam is approximately €9,000 – €12,000 in the city center, with a median, city-wide price often cited around €10,191 per sqm.

The average cost per sqm in Amsterdam in 10k euro. 90 sqm * 10k euro = 900k. The median household income = median income * 1,5. So we get:
900,000 / (54,000 * 1.5) = 11, 11

> Price to Income Ratio: 8.82
this isn't realistic at all:
> As of January 2026, the typical all-in budget to buy a standard apartment in Amsterdam is approximately 603,000 to 615,000 euros
> The median gross annual salary in Amsterdam is approximately €52,000–€54,000 as of 2024-2026
615,000 euro / 54,000 euro = 11,39.
I really don't know what kind of math can get you 8,82 in Amsterdam right now.
