The air pollition level is terrible all over the city. We live up in Xumpich area and are having sinus and lung problems and pain almost daily due to the air quality. We have bought air purifiers for every room in our house and are house bound most days. I used to monitor the aqi regularly and the air was often in the orange, red, and purple, which is very unhealthy to hazardous range. For the several months they only had partial monitoring of the air and would turn it off every time the air went into the very unhealthy range and now for past month or so they have turned off the air sensor all together. Needless to say we will be moving out of Merida to someplace that has clean air. If you are considering moving to Merida and have air sensitivities you may want to rethink moving into the city.
