The level of bacterial pollution (and based on the algal bloom, presumably nutrients) in Matosinhos but also extending down the coast to Foz, is surprising and even the data posted on the Matosinhos notice board shows extremely high counts of coliform bacteria in the water. Question: why isn't anything being done about it? Is there no "Surfers against sewage" campaign? I am surprised more people are not getting sick. Would you let your kids swim in that water?
