Health Care in Cotacachi, Ecuador

Health care in Cotacachi has greatly improved in the past few years. Cotacachi now has an English speaking doctor who specializes in gerontology and she is exceptionally good. In addition, the city of Ibarra (about 30 minutes by car) has significantly increased available medical specialists: For example, Clinica Moderna has equipment and specialists and an in-patient hospital. Another new clinic, Metropolitano, has opened as well. Many of the doctors at Moderna speak English and they are both attentive and thorough. Cotacachi also has physical therapists, modern dental clinics, and labs for any needed blood tests etc. (Cost is $40 for an office visit in Cotacachi and at Clinica Moderna (the only clinic in Ibarra I have personal experience with.)
