dog attacks are a real issue in Canberra. too many irresponsible dog owners and no action from the local government to reduce the risk of attack

Relatively safe city. All it takes is common sense. Avoid dark alleyways late at night, avoid people who look dodgy, keep your valuables close by or out of sight. Simple as that.

I have lived here almost all my life and have not had a single incident, but I count myself lucky.

Cheap and cheery place to live.
No jobs, no money, so go to the beach or Uni.
Watch out for trouble around the trains stations - very dangerous.
