Okay, the crime rate is exaggerated. Yes, there are people using drugs but most of them will leave you alone. And car breaking and Vandalism does happen. However, the city is very safe. Even at night time, it is very safe. Students go to downtown and walk back home at 3am without any problems

for all its problems, it's one of the few cities of its size or larger where you'll see many young women walking around late at night. really, as long as you avoid the drunks or obvious sketchy places you'll be alright.
