San Antonio can be a wonderful city if you know where not to go. There are places in town that should be avoided. Once you get south of E. Commerce street, you are no longer safe at night, because the cartels operate on the south side of town mostly. The safest places are on the northern side of town. Also, because of the police presence you should be safe downtown, just be careful of drifters.
