I visit family there and the people are kind and hard working trying to live a peacefully life. It's sad to hear that other parts of Mexico are dangerous or corrupt

Puebla is dangerous as fuck. Be very careful with everything and everyone! Crime has gone up big time during the last 3 years. Your best bet is to speak Spanish or else you'll be in trouble. Sucks if you are white/caucausian, Poblanos will think you have lots of money so they'll rip you off big time. In short, Puebla is not safe anymore, if you want to live here you either have to bribe for your safety or pay extra everywhere you go. BTW, food is delicious!

I’m visiting Puebla this year with the expectation of retiring there soon. I have lots of friends who live there - some Mexican and some ex-pats, so hope that I fall in love with the area.

I lived in Puebla for 3 months several years ago and attended Puebla Institute of Language. It was an experience well worth traveling there. I fell in love with the city and now would like to retire there in the next few years. I would like to find out how to get a small, one person apartment either inside the city or just outside.
