I have lived in Pattaya for 15 years, and during that time, I have enjoyed the nightlife to the fullest, NEVER any problems! Thais are nonconfrontational, very kind people, and issues are usually started by foreign visitors misbehaving. One of the safest places I have ever lived. Behave, be thoughtful of others, and you'll love the "Land Of Smiles."

I have lived in Thailand since 1995 and in the Pattaya Jomtien area since 1999, it's easily one of the safest destinations to live, work or visit and the cost of living is very low compared to even Bangkok but certainly a fraction of most big cities. Yes Pattaya is becoming quite like Asia's Las Vegas without the gambling but the fact that 19+million tourists visited Pattaya/Jomtien in 2019 puts it in the big leagues. That also brings with it the top world-class shopping malls, water parks, hotels, infrastructure and much much more. Now with the high-speed train under construction, in 2024 the trip to the center of Bangkok will take 55 mins and the local Utapao (10 mins by car) airport will be re-vamped to a similar capacity of the main BKK Suvarnabhumi airport of 30 mill passengers/year. The EEC project surrounds the region and has USD$445Bil in infrastructure developments and 3 new smart cities of 55,000 houses each. The future looks very promising and this region will blossom with time.
